Udwarthanam with Steam 75min $ 180

Udwartanam is a gentle scrub where Ayurvedic herbal powders are rubbed by gentle strokes. It is a pleasant and ground experience that helps to improve metabolism, lymphatic drainage, circulation and dullness. It is highly recommended when you are feeling dull and heavy. It leaves the skin tingling soothed and soft. A session of steam after udwartana helps with detoxifying the body and skin.

Udvarthanam is an invigorating therapeutic full body deep tissue massage done in a special rhythmic motion using herbal powder or paste. This therapy is very beneficial for diabetic neuropathy, obesity, paralysis, skin care and sciatica. The word “Udvarthanam” refers to elevate or to promote. This massage involves upward stroking with pressure, where the powder is rubbed forcibly on the body. This massage also improves circulation and muscle tone apart from removing dead skin cells. Udvartana is highly recommended to dissolve excess fat from the body.

In Udvarthanam the herbal powder or paste is briskly rubbed over the whole body. The absorptive properties of the powders act to metabolize excess fat deposits from the body. After the massage-steam (herbal sauna) is highly recommended, followed by a shower to remove the powder/paste

In udvarthanam, we use herbal powders and oils which have medicinal and therapeutic values. All these herbs and oils help to increase lymphatic circulation, remove blockages, pain and stiffness. It works on the fat tissues and promotes liquefying action. When the herbal powders and oils or rubbed on the skin with a specific pressure it opens up the pores, increases heat in the tissues, removes blockages in the vessels and stimulates fat metabolism.

Once the herbal paste is rubbed all over the body and the massage is over, the patient is asked to sit in a steam chamber. During this treatment the body loses lots of excess water (kapha) and the skin pores start to open. When the pores open, the herbal oil mixed with the paste can penetrate deeper into the skin and begins to liquefy the fat.
